The Whitebreads is a comic strip that uses humor to educate about
complex social and environmental subjects.
Most political cartoons lampoon politicians. You won't really see that
here.
It's easy to transfer blame for the state of the world to some far away
politicians (who do only what we all know they do), and ignore the power
we all have to change things through the ways we live. Politicians aren't
causing problems, they are just figureheads trying to convince the public
that they're "doing their jobs", whatever that may mean, while
they do favors for the highest bidder. It is not politicians, but the
way we live and the people we give power to (through the way we live)
that are causing problems.
With The Whitebreads I'm attempting to get to the root of the
problem rather than relieve Americans of responsibility by reassuring
them that they are merely helpless victims of politicians and corporations.
I also hope to illustrate (literally) the connections between issues and
get people thinking in new directions. My big hope is that I can inspire
people who want to change the world for the better that they should continue
their efforts and not give up, no matter how unjust, backward, and pervasive
the consumer culture may seem.

A veritable treasure
trove of weirdness from the early nineties to post-911 America. These
are like daily comics in that they are one shots or mini-series on a
specific subject.

Follow the Whitebreads
as they face the downfall of their consumer society without even knowing
it.
The year is 2028 and
America is gasping its last breath on the tail end of a period of total
environmental and economic breakdown. A group of environmentalists sends
a message back in time. But will their message be heeded and acted upon?
While the Whitebreads
enjoy a life of blissful ignorance, Fred Blenderhead listens to the message
of the Earth Underground of the future. The events of his world's future
are laid out before him and he learns how senseless war, dollar-driven
technology, overpopulation of the world's affluent, a misdirected educational
system, and the proliferation of schnauzers have led the world to the
brink of total annihilation.
